CCIE Wireless Lab Exam Overview
The Cisco CCIE Wireless Lab Exam is considered to be an eight-hour, hands-on exam which would be requiring the candidates to configure, diagnose, as well as troubleshoot a series of complex network scenarios. The candidate would be needed to understand how the network, as well as service components, would be interoperating, and how the functional requirements translating into specific device configurations. Knowledge of troubleshooting is considered to be an important skill and candidates would be expected to diagnose as well as solve issues as part of the CCIE lab exam. The candidate won’t be configuring all end-user systems; however, the candidate would be responsible for all devices residing in the network.

Lab Format
The CCIE Wireless Lab exam would be consisting of two modules:
Module 1: Diagnostic, which is the act or process of identifying the root cause.
Module 2: Configuration & Troubleshooting, which means to implement and fix.
These modules are considered to be delivered in a fixed sequence: candidates start with the Diagnostic module, which would be followed by the Configuration as well as Troubleshooting module. The entire CCIE Wireless lab exam would be lasting up to eight hours. The Diagnostic module is considered to be fixed in length of 60 minutes. If a candidate would be finished this module before the designated time, the candidate would have to wait until the 60 minutes come to an end, before proceeding to the Configuration and Troubleshooting module
It is considered to be quite important to note that the system doesn’t allow going back and forth between the two modules. Once the candidate would be starting with the Configuration and Troubleshooting module, the candidate won’t be able to go back to the Diagnostic module.
For the CCIE Wireless Lab exam, the Configuration and Troubleshooting module would be running in a mixed environment, where some equipment is considered to be physical while others, is virtual. The web-based delivery infrastructure is going to support both these environments. The Diagnostic module, however, although it's going to be based on real equipment, there would be no actual devices to be configured during this module. Topologies that would be utilized within both modules that would be representing the realistic enterprise wireless scenarios as well as could differ between modules. The main focus of the lab exam would be to test as well as validate troubleshooting, diagnosing and configurations skills, rather than to evaluate specific platforms and/or software knowledge.
