Before we discuss the CCIE Data Center v2.1 Work Book, let’s have a glimpse of what is actually the CCIE Data Center Certification.

CCIE Data Certification

CCIE Data Center certification is going to validate, that the candidates are having the expert-level skills that were required for planning, designing, implementing as well as troubleshooting today’s complex Data Center infrastructure.

Prerequisites

There are basically no formal prerequisites for CCIE certification. Other specialized certifications or training courses are not required.

Required Steps to Obtain Certification:

The candidates are needed to first pass a written qualification exam and then the corresponding hands-on lab exam. They are expected to have an in-depth understanding of the topics which are present in the exam blueprints and are encouraged to have a minimum of seven years of job experience before they begin to attempt the certification.

Steps to Certification

Step One: CCIE Data Center Written Exam

The candidates are needed to complete this exam which would be of two-hour, in written format exam which would qualify them to schedule the Lab exam. The Written exam will test the candidates on their knowledge of data center requirements, such as how different the data center components interoperate, and their ability to translate it into the device configurations. It would be a two-hour test with about 90 to110 questions. It is going to certify that professionals would have the expertise to design, diagnose, implement, and troubleshoot complex Data Center technologies.

Step Two: CCIE Data Center Lab Exam

The Cisco CCIE Data Center Lab exam is going to be a gruesome eight-hour, hands-on exam which would require the candidate so as to configure, diagnose, and troubleshoot a series of complex Data Center situations for a given specification. Knowledge of troubleshooting is considered to be an important skill and candidates are anticipated to diagnose and solve issues as it is a part of the CCIE Lab exam. The candidates must pass the Lab exam within three years of clearing the written exam so as to achieve certification. Your first Lab exam attempt must be made within 18 months of clearing the written exam.

CCIE Data Center V2 Workbook

The CCIE Data Center Workbook is an online interactive compilation of hands-on lab scenarios that are going to walk you through the technologies used in Cisco’s modern Data Center architecture. Whether you are learning for the CCIE Data Center Lab Exam, have an upcoming accomplishment project with Cisco’s Nexus switches or Cisco’s Unified Computing System (UCS), or simply want to gain hands-on experience with these progressive technologies, this workbook would be just for you.

The tasks provided in this workbook are all individually focused on advanced technology labs that would present the topics in a goal-oriented, easy-to-follow, step-by-step approach. Every scenario features the detailed breakdowns and thorough verifications so as to help the candidates to completely understand the technology. The workbook is subdivided into two sections. They are Nexus Technology Labs and UCS Technology Labs.

•    Nexus Technology Labs:

This section of the workbook is going to focus on Data Center Ethernet Switching and Data Center Storage Switching. Hardware platforms are going to be covered in this section which would include the Nexus 2000 Fabric Extenders, Nexus 5000 Switches, Cisco Nexus 7000 Switches, and MDS 9200 SAN Switches. Technologies covered in this section includes the Virtual Port Channels (vPC), Fabric Extension (FEX), Overlay Transport Virtualization (OTV), FabricPath, SAN Switching, and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) which are just a few to name.

•    UCS Technology Labs

This section of the workbook is going to focus on Unified Computing, Application Networking, and Network Virtualization. Hardware platforms covered in this section includes the Cisco UCS 6200 Fabric Interconnects (FI), UCS C Series Rack Mount Servers, UCS B5108 Blade Server Chassis, MDS 9200 SAN Switches, ACE 4710 Application Control Engine, and Nexus 1000v Virtual Switch.
