CCIE Lab Exam Overview:
The CCIE lab exam is an eight-hour, hands-on exam, which will require you learn about configuring and troubleshooting a series of complex networks to given stipulations. The Knowledge of troubleshooting is a very important skill and you are expected to have the knowledge of solving and diagnosing issues as part of the CCIE lab exam. You are not going to configure the end-user systems, but you are going to be responsible for all devices residing in the network like hubs, etc. Testing criteria and point values are will be provided to you. Cost of Lab Exam:
In the CCIE R&S Lab Exam, the cost of the practical exam is $1,600 USD per attempt. Do remember that it is not going to include the traveling and lodging expenses. One more thing that you should know that this Cost may vary according to the exchange rates and local taxes. And suppose that if you have joined any training organization, then their fees would also be your responsibility. Required Lab Environment:
The Cisco documentation is going to be available in the lab room, but the examination has the assumption of the knowledge of the more common technologies and protocols. The documentation could be navigated by using the index. Even, you are not allowed to bring outside reference materials in the lab room. If you have any issue, you must immediately report it to the proctor during the exam; Note that no adjustments can be allowed once the exam is over.
Lab Format:
In the Lab Exam, there are three modules of certification. The Troubleshooting module is 2 hours. If a candidate wishes to extend the Troubleshooting modules, he or she is allowed to do that by borrowing up the time to 30 min from the Configuration module. But, this will reduce the same from the total timing of the Configuration module by the extra time spent in the Troubleshooting module, if any, maximum up to 30 min. Suppose if the candidate finishes the Troubleshooting module early, then the unused time of the Troubleshooting module’s will be added to the Configuration module’s time, ensuring that in the total lab exam time do not exceed more than that of 8 hours. The last module, which is The Diagnostic module, is fixed and consists of 30 minutes and no changes are allowed to do in so.
