All detailed here – New CCNP Certifications
To pass any of the exams above you need to pass a CCNP Core Exam and one concentration exam.
The big announcement – !!!
Any CCNP Core Exam will qualify you to sit the CCIE LAB – no more CCIE Written exam.
Cisco Certified DevNet Associate
This is what I’m most excited about-Cisco has long recognized the development of network automation and programmability, so it’s great to launch an authentication.
For anyone who has participated in a Cisco Live event, you will notice the great interest of the DevNet region and now you can authenticate.
Cisco Certified DevNet Specialist
Now, you can select from all of the following topics to focus on the DevNet Specialists certification.
1. Automating and Programming Cisco Enterprise Solutions
2. Automating and Programming Cisco Security Solutions
3. Automating and Programming Cisco Service Provider Solutions
4. Automating and Programming Cisco Collaboration Solutions
5. Automating and Programming Cisco Data Center Solutions
6. Developing Applications using Cisco Core Platforms and APIs
6. Implementing DevOps Solutions and Practices Using Cisco Platforms
7. Developing Solutions Using Cisco IoT and Edge Platforms
8. Developing Applications for Cisco Webex and Webex Devices
Cisco Certified DevNet Professional
To become a Cisco Certified DevNet Professional you need to pass the Core exam 300-901 and then one of the specializations above.
So what does this all mean?
Cisco has said that for anyone who is studying for any exam that is about to retire, please move on, but if you have a way out and the new exam is better for you, you may be able to focus on those exams.
I’m going to be re-certified next month for my individual as a CCIE, so my CCIE will be renewed for 3 years, not 2 years, that’s great!
I think this is a major initiative for Cisco to recognize network automation and programmability from its new DevNet certification.
I’m sure there will be a lot of questions, so if you have a question to answer, please note it in your comments
Network Chuck has done a great video as well which explains it very well – some filmed at Cisco Live.
