CCIE SP Overview:
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert Service Provider or the CCIE Service Provider gives the official recognition that the professionals pursuing this course are those network professionals who have validated in order to possess the required expertise in development as well as management of the reliable and flexible network.
CCIE Service Provider Certification is a mode to ensure that the candidate have acquired the skills and knowledge in order to implement, troubleshoot, and maintain efficiency the Cisco Service Providers IP next-generation networks which would be best for understanding the course objective, below mentioned are the two exams, which the candidates are needed to go through to obtain this certification.
1. CCIE Service Provider Written Exam:
Candidates firstly are required to clear the CCIE SP Written exam in order to become eligible for the CCIE SP Lab exam. The duration of this exam is considered to be about 120 minutes, which includes about 90 to 110 questions. This exam is to validate professionals who acquire the knowledge to design, diagnose, implement, and troubleshoot compound Service Provider network infrastructure and services which would be based on dual stack solutions i.e. IPv4 and IPv6. This exam would also test the candidates’ understanding of how the networks and service components are going to interoperate.
2. CCIE Service Provider Lab Exam:
This eight-hour CCIE SP Lab exam would be testing the candidate’s ability to configure the actual equipment and would also gain the service provider network which would be running in a timed-based condition. There are no such prerequisites which are needed to apply for the CCIE Service Provider Certification.
But, these two exams are considered to be mandatory to clear by the applying candidate. So, after the candidates have cleared the CCIE SP Written Exam, they become eligible to give the CCIE SP Lab Exam. While the written exam could be attempted anytime, but the Lab exam is required to be attempted within 18-months of clearing the CCIE Service Provider Written Exam. If not, the candidates would have to take a retest for the Written Exam, before they make themselves eligible to re-apply for the CCIE SP Lab exam.
The CCIE SP Lab exam would be consisting of three modules, as follows:
• Module 1: Troubleshooting Module - 2 hours
• Module 2: Diagnostic Module - 1 hour
• Module 3: Configuration Module - 5 hours
Detailed knowledge about all the areas in the exam is considered as a requirement while 3 to 5 years job experience is also believed to be a non-obligatory yet highly fortified.
