3. Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE): Server Infrastructure

Salary Offered - $121,288

This certification was retired in 2017, but if you have acquired previously would be remaining on your transcript. It would be replaced by the MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure certification. At the end of 2018, Microsoft has begun their tectonic shift away from technology-centric certifications to more of the role-based certifications. Consequently, MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure would be retired and split into four different certifications, three of them would be focused on the Azure Administrator, Developer as well as Solutions Architect roles, and the MCSE: Core Infrastructure, which is going to be closely aligned to the on-premises focus of MCSE: Server Infrastructure.

Path to certification: While there would be no more options for those that once desirable the MCSE: Server Infrastructure, those options would be now more clearly defined. Your company’s strategy of workload management and in the case of a strategy of cloud-centric, your role would be to determine which of the new certifications you would be pursuing. An on-premises strategy would be lending itself to the new MCSE: Core Infrastructure, while a cloud strategy would be deferring to your role—cloud administrator, cloud solutions architect or cloud developer/engineer, with more roles being added in the future.
