Since September 1, 2012, ISC 2 would be offering the CISSP exam in an electronic format. This would be considered as a big change for those attempting this certification exam. Previously, exam candidates had to search for exam locations and then they have to schedule training that mapped up to available exam dates.
Below mentioned are some tips which could help you out to clear this exam:
Tip 1 – You still would have to plan for the exam. In my experience, students that plan for the exam properly in advance and prepare a written study schedule typically gain higher passing scores and lower failure rates. One of the big changes with computer-based testing is that there would be a rapid rotation of exam results. With the paper-based exam, the test candidates would have to wait for weeks to be notified of their exam results.
Tip 2 – Don’t wait until the test day is arriving, instead find out the areas where you are weak. Download a copy of the ISC 2 CBK from their official website and then use it as your checklist. Review each item in order to determine what areas you need to study and then focus on those areas which are weak before you attempt the exam. While ISC 2 may be moving to an electronic test, scoring of this exam might remain the same. Whether you pass or fail this exam, you are still required to answer 250 questions.
Tip 3 – Six hours offers you plenty of time to complete the exam; however, after 100 to 150 questions, you might start to feel a little bit fatigued. Prepare for the exam, in the same way, you that you would be preparing for a race; when using practice exams; prepare yourself to attempt about 200 to 250 questions at a time. One item exam candidates need to be aware of is the retest policy of the CISSP. It will change once as the ISC 2 migrates to electronic testing. From the date of the candidate’s first exam attempt, candidates wouldn’t reattempt the exam for about 30 days. If for some reason the candidate failed on the second attempt, the candidates wouldn’t be able to retake the exam for 90 days. If anyone had to attempt the exam again for the fourth time, there would be a 180-day waiting period before retaking the exam.
Tip 4 – Take your time and think about the logic of the test. Each question would have four possible answers and only one of them will be correct. So, read all of the questions carefully and even if you don’t know the answer, try to at least eliminating the wrong answers. Don’t make the mistake of clicking through questions too rapidly. Look for keywords like least, most, best, worst, or not. One word can make all the difference between a correct and wrong answer. Rescheduling would be again also an easier as candidates would be able to do so online about 48 hours before the scheduled date or time or even by phone that is about 24 hours before
Tip 5 – Don’t get associated with easy access with an easy test. Some individuals who are preparing for the exam might feel compelled to rush and schedule the test before being totally prepared. Most rate the CISSP exam as a moderately difficult exam and as the exam costs not less than $500.00, it wouldn’t be a wise decision to take it lightly. Instead, you need to ensure that you are fully prepared before scheduling the test date.
Lastly, if you want to have this certification, the best tip would be to join an organization, who could train you and even offer you the passing guarantee, like that is offered by the SPOTO CLUB a Services.
