Amazon S3 is designed to store and safeguard an unlimited amount of data. It is suitable for a variety of use cases, including backups, hosting websites, mobile app storage, big data analytics, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and long-term archiving.
S3 offers a range of features such as adding metadata tags to objects, moving and storing data across different S3 Storage Classes, managing data access controls, securing data from unauthorized access, running big data analytics, and monitoring data at both the object and bucket levels.
AWS S3 is integral to serverless applications, serving as the cloud storage solution for data that doesn't fit into a traditional database. It forms the foundation for handling large data files, such as images, videos, and user-generated content, within serverless architectures.
The default bucket limit for Amazon S3 is set to 10,000 buckets per AWS account, which applies automatically. If you need to increase this limit, you can request a quota increase, allowing you to create up to 1 million buckets. The first 2,000 buckets can be created free of charge.
