The CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure certification is an expert-level certification designed to assess networking professionals in enterprise networks. It provides a comprehensive overview of the technologies that are used in today's modern networks. It is designed to prove an individual's expertise and knowledge in deploying, operating and troubleshooting complex enterprise networks. This certification also verifies an individual's ability to optimize network performance, protect data security and build resilient architectures that can withstand changes in the dynamic environment of the modern enterprise.
This certification covers a variety of topics, including routing protocols such as Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and Integrated IS-IS, as well as Layer 2 protocols such as Link Aggregation Protocol (LACP), Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPN) and Quality of Service (QoS). The CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure exam also tests an individual on various architecture components such as virtualization, automation, cloud computing services, software-defined networking and security protocols for both physical and virtual infrastructures.
In order to earn the CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure certification, candidates must first pass a written examination and then complete a hands-on lab exam. The written exam focuses on foundational topics such as troubleshooting methodology, network principles, infrastructure services, infrastructure security, automation and orchestration. The hands-on lab exam requires candidates to demonstrate their skills in deploying complex enterprise networks using Cisco equipment which includes routers, switches, firewalls and other applications in both physical and virtual environments.
Successful candidates must have a deep understanding of core routing protocols and their implementation on Cisco equipment. They must be able to deploy cloud infrastructures with secure VPNs between branches or between data centers; design secure wireless LANs using advanced features like MAB authentication; configure QoS policies to ensure appropriate levels of service across multiple traffic flow types; monitor network health using device management tools; use automation techniques to streamline processes; implement advanced layer 3 routing protocols like BGP Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS); deploy site-to-site IPSec policies for remote access users; configure access control lists for data protection; troubleshoot hardware issues quickly; upgrade firmware on devices using features like USB auto-provisioning; apply best practices when configuring redundancy on routers or switches with Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP).
