Cisco has launched a new Cisco Certification program and relevant exam formats to adapt to modern changes in networking and cybersecurity from February 24, 2020.

1.New Cisco Certification Exam Format
1.1 New Cisco Certifications Program
- CCNA needs only to take one single exam. Previously, candidates had to take multiple exams to earn CCNA certification.
- For CCNP, you will need to pass 2 exams (technology core exam and concentration exam). The technology core exam is a mandatory component, while the concentration exam is optional.
- The core exam can be served as a prerequisite for the CCIE lab exam. Meaning if you want to become a CCIE certified, then you need to pass the technology core exam at first, and then the lab exam. For example, if you pass 350-401 and 300-410, you will get CCNP Enterprise certification; if you pass 350-401, you will get CCIE Enterprise written certification.
- More flexible. Taking the CCNA exam before the CCNP exam has gone. Currently, you can choose CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE to start your journey wherever you want.
1.2 CCIE Policy Changes
All certifications have equal validity of 3 years now (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE – All Level). Previously, it was 2 years
2. New CCIE Lab Exam Format
The updated CCIE Lab Exam covers the whole Network lifecycle from Planning, Design, Deployment, Operation & continuous Optimization.
Formerly, it only included Diagnosis, Configuration & Troubleshooting.
3. What is the new CCIE lab exam format?
Module 1: Design
You will have up to 3 hours to complete that module which is scenario-based.
Module 2: Deploy, Operate, and Optimize.
It takes up to 5 hours with the format of hand-on + web-based items.
