PMI will announce that version 7 of the PMBOK PMP will be released in January 2020 as a draft for the project management community review. The seventh edition of PMBOK will be released on August 1, 2021. If you want to obtain PMP certification, PMBOK will be one of the most important resources when preparing for the PMP exam.
Most PMP training providers will prepare PMP learning materials and resources based on PMBOK content. Therefore, the seventh edition of PMBOK will become PMP’s guide and PMI’s CAPM certification pathway, and training providers will update their materials based on this change.

Why should PMBOK be changed?
So far, PMBOK will mainly focus on waterfall project management technology. However, with the rapid development of technology, competition is considered more intense than ever. The product life cycle is short, and the product or project requirements may change over time, depending on the progress of the project.
PMBOK 7th Edition will be based on principles rather than processes and is much shorter than the current version.
According to the project industry, characteristics, stakeholders, and the requirements of the organization, project managers will tend to adopt different methods when delivering projects. These methods can be agile, predictive, hybrid, or waterfall.
Principles and process-based project management
In the seventh edition of PMBOK, project management standards will be based on principles rather than processes. There will be PMBOK knowledge areas in current and previous PMBOK, and each knowledge area will be process, technology, tool, input, and output. These procedures will not be available in PMBOK PMP 7th Edition. Some principles will be generally accepted and practiced in project management. Although the current and previous versions of PMBOK focus on deliverables, the evolving project dynamics focus on the overall project results. In contrast, the latest PMBOK focuses on outcomes rather than deliverables.
A visual summary of PMBOK version 7 changes
The 7th edition of PMBOK and the subsequent PMI announcement will be changed from the sixth edition of PMBOK PMP to the seventh edition of PMBOK PMP.
There will be three introductory chapters in PMBOK and ten knowledge areas in PMBOK 6th Edition. In PMBOK 7th Edition, it is not the knowledge domain but the performance domain. There will also be chapters “Model,” “Tailor,” “Method” and “Workpiece.”
In the 7th edition of PMBOK PMP, there will be a shift from a process-based approach to a principle-based process. There will be 12 project delivery principles and a value delivery system. The value delivery system will focus on delivering valuable results instead of delivering results.
The project will be the essential component of the value delivery system. It is also the principle that guides the project manager, team members, and stakeholders to achieve the expected results of delivering value to the organization and stakeholders.
Along with PMBOK 7th Edition, you also need the SPOTO PMP exam dump to succeed in the first attempt.
