Facing the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, Microsoft on March 26, would have announced that it is extending the expiration date of its MCSA, MCSD, and MCSE certifications from June 30, 2020, to Jan. 31, 2021. As part of its push towards the role-based certifications, Microsoft would be continuing to make major changes to its certification program. There has been an announcement that more than a dozen certifications are going to be retired on June 30, 2020. The 15 certifications which would be slated for retirement span various levels of the Microsoft certification path: MSCA, MCSE, and MCSD. If you would be having any of these certifications, they would be remaining on your Microsoft transcript after they retire. They would be remaining “active” for two years after June 30, 2020. After that, they would be moving to the “inactive” section of your transcript. If you would be currently studying for any of the above certifications, you would be having until June 30, 2020, to take their associated exams as long as they haven’t been retired. If that’s the case, you would be no longer able to earn that certification.
If you would be holding any of the certifications listed below, Microsoft would be offering role-based certifications for helping you to update your skills and transcript.
While these changes would be effectively signal the end of Microsoft’s MCSA, MCSE, and MCSD certifications, MTA and MOS certifications wouldn’t be impacted for now.
