This ensures no files are in use during uninstall.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Remove via Settings<\/strong><ul><li>Open <strong>Settings<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Apps<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Apps &amp; features<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Find <strong>FortiClient<\/strong> (or <strong>Fortinet Antivirus<\/strong>).<\/li><li>Click <strong>Uninstall<\/strong>, then follow the wizard.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Reboot<\/strong> when prompted to complete removal.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><strong>Tip<\/strong>: If the uninstall entry is missing or greyed out, see Section 1.3.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"12_EMS-Managed_FortiClient\"><\/span>1.2 EMS-Managed FortiClient<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>FortiClient centrally managed by EMS (FortiClient Enterprise Management Server) must first be disconnected:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Launch <strong>FortiClient<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Navigate to <strong>Zero Trust Telemetry<\/strong> (or <strong>EMS<\/strong> tab).<\/li><li>Click <strong>Disconnect<\/strong> under \u201cCentrally Managed by EMS\u201d and confirm.<\/li><li>Close FortiClient, then proceed with the same shutdown and uninstall steps as in Section 1.1.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"13_Force-Uninstall_Utility\"><\/span>1.3 Force-Uninstall Utility<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If the standard uninstall fails or no entry exists:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong>Download<\/strong> the <strong>FortiClient Removal Utility<\/strong> (<code>FCRemove.exe<\/code>) from your Fortinet support portal or EMS server.<\/li><li><strong>Run<\/strong> the utility as Administrator.<\/li><li>Choose <strong>Force Uninstall<\/strong> for all FortiClient components (Antivirus, VPN, Telemetry).<\/li><li><strong>Reboot<\/strong> to clear in-use files.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Always check in <strong>Task Manager<\/strong> for any <strong>FortiClient<\/strong> or <strong>FortiTray<\/strong> processes and end them before running the utility.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"14_Command-Line_Uninstall_WMIC\"><\/span>1.4 Command-Line Uninstall (WMIC)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For scripted environments, you can uninstall via WMIC:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code class=\"\">wmic product where \"name like 'Forti%%'\" call uninstall \/nointeractive\r<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>This command locates any installed product whose name begins with \u201cForti\u201d and calls its uninstall routine. It\u2019s ideal for bulk removal via PowerShell or SCCM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Uninstalling_FortiClient_on_macOS\"><\/span>2. Uninstalling FortiClient on macOS<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>macOS installations place launch agents, kernel extensions, and login items in addition to the main app bundle. Follow these steps to ensure a clean removal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"21_Using_the_Built-In_Uninstaller\"><\/span>2.1 Using the Built-In Uninstaller<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong>Quit FortiClient<\/strong>: Click the menu-bar shield icon and select <strong>Shutdown FortiClient<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>Run the Uninstaller<\/strong>: In <strong>\/Applications<\/strong>, locate <strong>FortiClientUninstaller.app<\/strong> and double-click it.<\/li><li><strong>Follow prompts<\/strong> to enter your administrator credentials and complete the uninstall.<\/li><li><strong>Reboot<\/strong> to finalize removal.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"22_Manual_Removal_if_Uninstaller_Fails\"><\/span>2.2 Manual Removal (if Uninstaller Fails)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Remove Login Items<\/strong><ul><li>Open <strong>System Preferences<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Users &amp; Groups<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Login Items<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Select any <strong>FortiClient<\/strong>-related items (e.g., <code>FortiClientAgent<\/code>) and click the <strong>\u2013<\/strong> button.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Kill Remaining Processes<\/strong><ul><li>Open <strong>Activity Monitor<\/strong> and quit any processes named <strong>Forti<\/strong> or <strong>Fortinet<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Delete Application Bundles<\/strong> <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code class=\"\">sudo rm -rf \/Applications\/FortiClient.app\r\nsudo rm -rf \/Applications\/FortiClientUninstaller.app\r<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Unlock Locked Bundles<\/strong> (if macOS flags them as immutable) Then delete as above.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code class=\"\">sudo chflags noschg \/Applications\/FortiClient.app\r\nsudo chflags noschg \/Applications\/FortiClientUninstaller.app\r<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Remove Support Files<\/strong><br>In Finder\u2019s <strong>Go \u2192 Go to Folder\u2026<\/strong>, paste each path below, locate any <code>FortiClient<\/code> or <code>Fortinet<\/code> items, and move them to Trash: <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code class=\"\">~\/Library\/Application Support\/\r\n~\/Library\/Caches\/\r\n~\/Library\/Preferences\/\r\n~\/Library\/LaunchAgents\/\r\n\/Library\/Extensions\/\r<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Empty Trash<\/strong> and <strong>Reboot<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><strong>Warning<\/strong>: Some kernel extensions may require disabling macOS System Integrity Protection (SIP) to remove; consult Apple\u2019s documentation before doing so.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Uninstalling_FortiClient_on_Linux\"><\/span>3.
